Social Reform

The social problem that needs to be reform is re-introducing standard manners. Please, thank you, good morning, and God or just bless you when someone sneeze all have lost their value.

I work for Wal-Mart over night and about 5am the nine to fivers begin to run in to get their last minute things. As they pass by, I say good morning to everyone and 5 out of 10 will speak. The other five do not part their lips. Granted there is freedom of speech but what happens to old fashion common courtesy

When I first moved to Virginia from New York, I remember the neighbors would wave when you passed or drove by. Now, you can stand right next to someone and sneeze and they won’t even say bless you.

Although this is probably more of a moral than a social issue one they all work together. If we can remember the Golden Rule, do unto other as you would have them do unto you, in every area of our lives, it will make the other social issues like gun control, or health reform easier to decide.

This is most definitely easier said than done because unlike common social issues this cannot be voted on and changed it simply has to be taught from birth.

In conclusion, there is only one way to eat an elephant, and that’s one bite at a time. This is how changes should be taken when forming our lives and reforming our government, a little at a time, and eventually the small changes will be noticeable big ones.

My Best Self

Describing my best self would have to include these three aspects woman hood, marriage, and motherhood.

Womanhood developed slowly over the years and as I aged physically I also matured into the woman I am today. But, marriage and then motherhood taught me lessons that I would have never learned unless married with children.

Speaking of married with children, I used to love that TV show. Although my daughter is older than my son we are nothing like the Bundy family. Other than the love that was usually expressed by the end of each show, it lacked many family qualities and most of the characters lacked self respect.

I simply believe if you uphold a positive standard for your character your reputation will precede you. I not only possess this type of character as a woman, wife and mother. Family values and self respects go a long way when raising children, building a family and being an overall good person.

In closing the sum of these aspects and self respect is what make the best me I can be and “To believe you own thought, to believe that is what’s true for you in your private heart, is true for all men…” is a quote that helps me see my thoughts as the right way of thinking and adds meaning to my life every day I practice what I believe.

What is American?

Dear Reader,

What is American? Well, to sum it all up it is a-mere-i-can dream. This is the land of opportunity. Most people who have read about our country desire to at least visit one day. One visit has turned into finding a job, educating themselves in our culture, building a family and embedding themselves into what we describe as the American Dream.
So many People have come to America to work for their families back home. America is one of the few nations that has a minimum wage in place that's over 10,000 a year. Although Americans may think that's pennies on a dollar, is actually a substantial amount in other countries such as India, where one American dollar is worth about 45 rupee.
When people from other countries come to America the anxiety to learn about our country and our culture as well as our language is multiplied. It not only becomes more interesting to learn, but it become important to live and survive, especially with the language barriers. Although this is an English speaking nation we have adopted other languages and cultures as our own because of the people who have made America their home.
Building Families have been a big apart of those who seek out the American dream. Whether one traveled alone and married once they found love, or they sent for their families once citizenship was established, having a family is apart of most of their goals.
The dreams of most that are born here or come here to visit are simple ones. Mainly include being happy, and having something to call our own. This is a great nation even with it not so perfect laws, policies and people but with the right attitude and focus you will see once you get here that I CANT is not an option if you have a -mere-i -can dream.
